About me

I am a part of all that I have met,
yet all experience is an arch wherethro’
Gleams the untravelled world whose margin fades
For ever and for ever

                                                                           –   Alfred Lord Tennyson Ulysses

I’m Isabella, italophile and  scholar of  the Italian language. I’ve been spending time in Italy every year for the past eight years. From the first time  I arrived in Roma− awed by the beauty which surrounded me − it’s been a journey of  discovery.

I’ve fallen in love with the beautiful landscapes, great food and amazing history.  My Italian journeys have been filled with warm welcomes, generosity and friendly assistance in times of need.

Italian Journeys is a record of my travels through Italy. It is also a narrative of my experiences with the Italian language, culture and food. This journey is ongoing − my struggles with the language, immersion in the culture and the cooking and eating Italian food will all be chronicled. Expect to read about the frustrations and joys of trying to live like an Italian, especially when you’re not in Italy!  And, I’ve made some great friends.

When I’m in Australia, my alter ego Colleen is front and centre. She’s a communications professional who has a passion for effective communication, beauty and of course, all things Italian. Read more at www.howtocommunicate.com.au

I hope you’ll look out for my posts and share your own Italian experiences with me. I’d love to hear from you!
